A love story The ceiling tiles are black. Different from how I remembered them. My skirt is on the floor next to the bed, like a dark, murky puddle. There's a bottle of tequila in the murky puddle.I forgot to take my bra off, so now the wire is sticking into my left boob like I've done something to offend it. My makeup is still on, streaked all over my face after crying myself to sleep. I roll over in the bed and see Hayley, fully clothed, clutching the pillow like a teddy bear. There's a lock of hair resting on her face, and I have to refrain myself so I don't sweep it away. She wakes up and smiles t me.

The white reminds me of the purity of a child's heart, but the footsteps all over remind me that every heart will eventually get trampled upon.

The snow on the trees reminds me of how amazing Christmas is, the best time of the year to spend with your family, but it also reminds me that for some it's the worst time of year, those who have no family, those who can't make ends meet. I sat on the bench at the bus stop every day for weeks before I even noticed him. One morning, when I was tired and grumpy, he walked by me hurriedly. His hair was in disarray and he had his bag casually slung over one shoulder. He smiled at me as he passed, and I couldn't help but smile back. He had one of those smiles that make everyone happy.
